Grandparents Visit from HK

Dearest Natalie,

If you are wondering why I haven't been writing to you much these days, it is because I've been very occupied by all sort of stuffs this past 2 weeks. Anyway, with my mom (ur porpor) and my mom's mom (my porpor) all playing with you now, I have the time to update you.

Your grandparents and Uncle Patrick, Aunty Kimmy and Yvonne all came for a visit over the National Day weekend. Though it was just a short visit, we did alot of things together and you had a good time bonding with them. We took some photos together and I'm attaching one here.

THE PAK FAMILY

Somehow I feel like I look like a maid in the photo coz everyone else is just so pretty or good looking and I look like I'm not of the same kind. And of course in my eyes, you are the prettiest. Do you think so? Everyone brought you alot of new clothes, enough to last you for a long long time. Your grandma suggested that I should select a few of your prettiest clothes and keep them for you till you grow up. That sounds quite cool, the only problem is I don't know which to keep coz all are so pretty. You're a lucky girl. When mommy was a little girl, I didn't have as many pretty clothes as you coz mommy wasn't born in a rich family but nevertheless I had a really happy childhood coz I have the best parents in the whole world. They love me so dearly that I want to give the same kind of love to you.

Over the National Day weekend, we also celebrated my birthday. This is my first birthday with you around and it feels so different. I remember last year on my birthday, I wrote a letter to you too and it feels really surreal reading the letter again with you sitting on my lap. It's a wonderful feeling!

You & Mommy taken at Coffee Club on my birthday. You were wearing a new set of clothes your porpor got you. Isn't it pretty?

We bought you your first ever toy bike not long ago on a Sunday (7th August). Your porpor and I were waiting for your Daddy to fetch us from church and saw a toy car sale going on. We spotted your bike and let you tried riding it. You were very delighted and we decided to make the purchase on the spot. It's not really expensive coz the bike can last you for at least 4 yrs! We were very happy with the purchase as we were able to rest our tired arms by pushing you around in the toy bike immediately. You had fun going circles in Suntec convention centre and I think you attracted quite alot of attention, people must be wondering what you were doing in a toy bike instead of a stroller! We made good use of the bike by bringing you out almost every evening to the playground at the condo to watch other kids at play. You look very "proud" and grown-up in your bike and I am looking forward to the day when you can ride it on your own.

I did a count and realised that I have been breastfeeding you for almost 8 months. I never thought I could breastfeed you for this long at the beginning coz it seems to be so difficult. Now I think I'll have a problem trying to stop breastfeeding you coz it has become so convenient for me and I enjoy the special bonding time for you. I can't imagine having to sterilise the bottles in the middle of the night, making sure the milk is of the right temperature, choosing a brand which is suitable for you etc etc etc. So I'll continue to breastfeed you till you don't want your milk milk anymore. That won't be anytime soon coz I'm your human pacifier, another reason why I refused to give you pacifier despite being encouraged to do so by many well-meaning friends and relatives. Breastfeeding you is something very intimate between us that I am not about to give up and give you a lousy rubbery substitute. I'm a breastfed baby for 18 months and you shall have that special right too!

There are more that I want to write in this letter but I'm getting a little tired. As you can see, this is quite a long letter already. Your Daddy just left to join your uncle for some LAN game session which I didn't want to join. We shall have some fun without Daddy tonight, dearie!

Love,
Mommy

A new layout

Dearest Natalie Baby,

Mommy has created a new layout for your journal. It has flowers and fairy on it and I like it very much.

I haven't been updating your growth and development very much lately so I'll try to do so now. As of today, you are able to get from your sitting position to crawling position on your own. Though you have not started to crawl yet, you are starting to show interest in it. Sometimes when you really want to get something and no one is helping you, you will push yourself hard to reach for it. When you really can't do it, you will demand us to get for you by making alot of noise. Your favourite phrase so far is "ah-babababa" and "babubabubabu". Sometimes we thought you were calling out for Daddy when you went "ahbababababa".

You are a baby who loves the remote control and phones more than your toys or books. We bought you a few bible story books and a set of little miss library books. Your daddy search really hard to make the set complete, well.. not exactly coz we still have 5 books missing from the set. Oh, not to forget books from ladybird with tales like "ugly duckling", "hansel and gretel" and "rapunzel" etc. These are books my mommy reads to me when I was a little girl, now it is my turn to read to you.

I spotted your 2 upper teeth 2 days ago. They are still embedded in your gum, I think they'll be out given a week more. :-) Your 2 lower teeth are very prominent now, though not 100% out yet. You love to grab things and bite now and it seems like you have grown sick of the sweet potato porridge I made for you. We found out that you don't like your porridge too cold, you'll spit it out and give us a "yucky" expression which is really funny.

Tomorrow, your grandpa and grandma from HK will be here, together with your uncle Patrick, auntie Kimmy and Yvonne. I hope you'll enjoy spending time with them and I hope it won't rain too much so that we can have some fun outdoor. Everyone is gonna be busy for a few days!

Alright, I'm going to get you from Auntie Sandra now. :-)

Love,
Mommy
